Okay I'm going to give it straight right here, for your own time and sake please ignore all of the really positive comments here, you may like to read them more than a negative one such as this one, but mine is at least full of truth. 13 is definitely too late for Wimbledon, just think you're not the only kid who has wanted to play in Wimbledon and not just Nadal and Federer, but pretty much the whole top 1000 is full of people who have worked hard since there were 6 or 7. By age 13 future Wimbledon participants are already participating in the Junior circuit and they have already mastered the basics of tennis. Now just because you can't be pro doesn't mean that you can't play tennis for fun, I would still say that you're not too old to try to play college tennis which is more relaxed as well.

I have answered so many questions like this before. There is no such thing as too late. No one cares about how old you are. They care about your skill. Federer and Nadal did start when they were young but did not fully dedicate to tennis until the age of 12. Before that they would also play soccer on teams. If you start early it just makes it easier to learn things faster. It does not mean 5-6 years later you cant do the same thing. If you live in the US I suggest you look for your local tennis club/center. Pick an average to a very good one. Poor tennis clubs do not do much good for your game. Once you pick a tennis club, contact the coaches. Ask if they offer private lessons. Private lessons is the fastest and best way to get your game up. Ask your coach when you are ready for tournament play. When you are ready you can join USTA(usta.com). They have local, state, and national tournaments. After you do well in local move on to state. If you do well in state go to national. If you do well in the national you can join the ITF(internation tennis federation). Here you play junior grandslams and play tournaments like the pros. If you rank top 20 in the ITF, you have a good chance of making it to the top 20 of the world. Before you think about wimbledon, start small and work your way. Set small goals that help you reach large ones. If you think about very large goals, it will overwhelm you. Your first step is to go find a coach. Good luck and I wish you the best.

ok cut the bs if you start at 13 and you train hard within a year or two you could get pretty good and when some local usta tournys... but theres no way you could get into wimbledon or any other major...but if you try really hard (like private lessons everyday, clinics everyday, and another 3 hours of hitting a day) you might be able to win some challenger or future events (the minor leagues of tennis)

Absolutely not. It's true that it's the norm for the best players in the world to start playing at age 5 or so, but there are examples of players who did not start until your age or later who became pros. I believe Taylor Dent did not start playing until he was 13 or 14, and had he not gotten injured he may have had a chance at cracking the top 10.

It's not too late at 13 - if you are really dedicated and focused.

You certainly have nothing to lose by giving it your best shot.

Hope this helps...

Well,
Nadal and Federer started played really young..
But if you are wiling to go pro...better start off quickly and see if you like the sport. You will need to train 3 times a week and it put a lot of effort, its a really hard job to get and not many people reach it. But if you really want it and never stop dreaming you have a chance. But not only train for Wimbledon but first to get to the ATP.
P.S. I play tennis for 5 years already.

I think this is from a series on Fox Sports called "Beyond the Glory." Each episode goes in-depth with a particular athlete.
