Question by chrissy xo: Is my senior year too late to start playing tennis?
My boyfriend is very good at tennis and he has been teaching me how to play. I am learning quickly and he mentioned that I should try out for our schools team in the fall. We will be practicing at least twice a week for an hour and a half each time until then. I do not know what to think!

Question by 3HAKURYU3: Is Tennis Anything Like The Prince Of Tennis Anime?
Based on the anime, it looks like so much fun. I wan to learn how to play tennis. I have tried playing at my school during field day, but I didn’t like it that much. I know that’s not much to go off of. Anyway, is tennis any fun and is it easy? P.S. I don’t mean easy as in you don’t have to practice or do any work, but easy as in is it easy learn, do, and etc.

Answer by THFNB F try to get someone to instruct you on the fundamentals in hitting first then maybe you’ll like it more
a lot of things are exaggerated in Prince of Tennis but if it really sparked your interest in the sport watch the Australian Open now and maybe you could get into it

Question by jlcintexas: Tennis players!!!!?
My 12 year old son is just learning to play tennis…we have a senior at Baylor University who is giving him lessons during the summer…and he is going to start to play in a very entry level tournament in the area, starting next week. We are hoping he will be good enought to make the jr high tennis team at the end of the 2008-09 school year. Could you recommend what kind of racquet he REALLY needs…not his dream racquet….but a suitable beginners’? his coach did tell us his grip was a 4 ‘ 3/8″…but help me out on everything else! I looked at the local sports store and they can get awfully pricey…please share your sensible advice. Thank you.
Best answer:
Answer by topseedvicki you can buy a really good racquet on ebay….Prince makes a great racquet….as well as Wilson and Head. The Prince Beast is a good beginner racquet. Just make sure the grip fits his hand. Most of those racquets mentioned above cost at least $ 100 if they are new. You can get a discontinued racquet for next to nothing. As your local sports store to demo a racquet…when you find one he likes, go to ebay and get it real cheap (used but cheap).
If he is really into the sport, he will do well….lots of practice, practice practice….

Question by Big Matt: What tips can you give to make it so i can serve the ball with out hitting the net so much. I try to not tilt.
I Am a big guy and I’m learning to play tennis with some people. I have an O.K back hand and front but my serve need alot of work.
For some reason i can’t break the habbit of tilting my racket and way I can use a strat to keep it straight.
Best answer:
Answer by matthew alright, heres what i did to get my serves over, i would practice by standing completing straight, with the racket over head also straight. then i would hit he ball without moving my body at all, it feels werid, looks werid, isnt hit hard, but it gets over, i did that for a while and then slowly progressed to the point where i can just serve normal.

Question by Rosey ♥: I want to learn how to play tennis… any suggestions?
Best answer:
Answer by gordo1466 Go to your local tennis club or town offices and sign up for lessons. The best way to learn is to take lessons. While taking lessons u will meet people at your level and you can practice with them….
Also, if u have indoor courts, sign up there; that way u can take your lessons/play, rain or shine.
